![]() The Cancel button closes the dialog without accepting the color you selected as the foreground or background color. The Reset button rejects the selected color and lets you select another color. Buttons: The OK button adds the selected color to the Toolbox and closes the Change Foreground Color dialog. This works well when you want to import an exact color from another program. Optionally, in the HTML notation field, you can enter a 6-character hexadecimal value to set a specific color. Numerical entries: You can also type decimal values for Red, Green and Blue to set or mix a color. In general, the sliders serve to mix colors an alternative for mixing colors is to select a color (or color range) with the mouse, as described earlier. Sliders: You can move the H (for Hue) slider to produce alternative colors with the same lightness, using the settings in the figure. The other radio buttons activate different views of the Hue field for selection. Radio buttons The H radio button should be enabled for the default color display (see figure 3.31).Click into this field or shift the mouse on it while holding the left mouse button down to preselect a color. ![]() To the right of this field you find the RGB spectrum, if the radio button next to H is enabled. It will be shown as a new color in the Current field. Just click the desired hue to activate it. Clicking into this field lets you select the lightness levels for a color. You may modify the color of the image by adjusting the Adjust color levels bars. Select the Colors menu from the menu bar, then the Color Balance option from the list. Find the image file and click on open to open your image file. Probably the most striking field is the square field on the left side, showing the hue of one chosen color. Open your GIMP application and click the Open option from the File menu. ![]() The other color models are CMYK colors (four-color printing), color triangle, and watercolors (additive mixing colors). This color mode is found in most popular image editing programs. The most common is RGB mode (and HSV mode), which is set as default, resembled by the tab showing the GIMP icon. In the Change Foreground Color window, there are tabs allowing you to change the way in which color is represented. The Color Editor dialog Change Foreground Color and the representation of the color selected in the Toolbox Clicking on any color brings up the Color Editor dialogs. It consists of two colors, the foreground color and the background color, and you can use it to choose colors for painting, writing, or filling. This seemed to work in a flash after fruitlessly spending a lot of time wrestling with Gimp/plugins and /plugins.The color area is GIMP's basic color palette. ![]() And blue values to be 63/70ths of the current values. Green values to be 159/198th of the current values. So that means I wanted new pixels' R value to be 231/141ths of the current red value. The rest of the colors wanted to be changed equivalently. Specifically, because I knew a "master color" of the original image (green, in your case and mine) and I knew the "master color" in the desired result image (blue, in your case, orange in mine), I gave ImageMagick' -recolor/-color-matrix option a transformation matrix with values that reflected the differences in each of the RGB channels.įor example, in my case, the fully green color was R:141 G:198 B:63 and I wanted it changed to R:231 G:159 B:70. The different operator is either -recolor or -color-matrix, depending on ImageMagick version. ![]() The first successful method I found to do the same sort of thing was to use ImageMagick, but with a different operator than the earlier-suggested -separate/-swap. ![]()
